Tetris and Jenga Master

Well, the day finally arrived. We settled on the day we were going to leave the house. After weeks of cleaning (mostly by Dana - thanks, Honey) and trying to get rid of ‘stuff’ by donating, selling online, or using the dumpster at work, we finally whittled it down to one large dumpster the ‘professionals’ filled and - spoiler alert - what fit in the caravan.

As we got down to all the must haves, we ran into a dilemma. We needed to make sure everything would fit (or get rid of so called necessities), but we still had at least a day or two before we could leave town due to prior commitments. We now have no furniture or anything in the home other than what we currently have to go road tripping and then overseas. On the good side, we already bought the bed for the van and have chairs and utensils for camping.

In steps Tetris and Jenga Master - me. 😁

I have to figure out a way to fit all our stuff into the van while leaving enough space for us and Mafi (and Wally-you’ll be introduced to him later) all while being able to remove absolutely critical pieces for living in the house for a couple of days. I actually made it work where the bed and a couple of suitcases could be pulled out. Excellent plan - until we had a few remaining errands and the load shifted without the bed an suitcases holding everything in place. Fortunately, there was so much stuff, it didn’t move far. With a little repair work, the puzzle was back in place (slightly modified) and my Tetris mind took over. Slide everything back in (and a few extras).

Our adventures are now beginning. A couple of months visiting family before we truly begin our journey, but we were able to leave Beaver with all of our critical must-haves and a few ‘what are you talking about’ must-haves in tow. (The picture is of a first attempt. It was NOT the final masterpiece!!)
